Vacation, Day 1

Itinerary:

Monday, July 15

Depart: Bowie, MD
Destination: Campsite between Indianapolis, Indiana & St. Louis, MO
Distance: 607-863 Miles
Driving Time: 10 hours 1 minute – 14 hours 6 minutes

Possible stops along the way:  Carriage Hill Metro Park, Huber Heights, OH (buildings and visitor center not open on Monday), Steak and Shake Restaurant,

This morning, just before 5am, Adam and Matt started their cross-country trek.  This leave me as a pregnant, working single mom who can't drink or eat sweets.  This sounds better than camping to me at this point!

Update from Dinner
1.   When asked what types of beer I was looking for, I said IPA, and received the blankets of looks.  I got a PBR
2.  Adam asks for a vinaigrette, and he's told they have oil and vinegar.
3.  The consensus in the bar had a different feeling towards the Zimmerman trial than others I've recently heard.
Ah, the Land of Lincoln.

I don't know Horseshoe Lake State Park very well, but there are a few trees well set up for two guys with hammocks.  It is uncomfortably humid, but based on what I'm hearing about DC, I shouldn't complain. 
It does sound like some sort of alien mechanical animal is dying a few hundred feet from me though. So I'm sure that will make it easier to sleep.
A good, long drive today.  Adam and I realized that if we drove tomorrow what we drove today, we would be in Denver tomorrow, so that gives us some room tomorrow.  I'm hoping to blow through Missouri, then take some back roads through Kansas, but we will see.  I think today will be our last (and first) endurance day for awhile, so that makes me happy.

As for me, I had a solid afternoon with Katie.  She spent the morning with Aunt Heather while I was at work.  All in all, we made it through day 1 and we're looking forward to more fun soon.
