It's glucose tests, heart monitors and feelings, oh my! Will is still in the NICU but continues to show a real ability to regulate his own glucose levels, despite a lowering of the mL / hours he's receiving via his IV. He's eating we'll most feelings, only needing formula when he gets picky. Today, G&G T came back (with ice.cream and a lobster roll for mom!) and Mama Hewitt came to visit. Dad went home tonight to get Katie back other routine, and the dogs too..poor Bodhi is so attached to Adam,she really doesn't like being away for him.. As opposed to Katie who is happy to see us return, but too busy and having too much fun to miss us.
I will be discharged in the morning. We will need to buy Motrin to have at home. Not a negotiable.
Fun fact: they do rounds, yes, like you'd see on tv. At AAMC's nicu, rounds are like an IEP meeting for a one day old.. Complete with a team leader (doctor) involved specialists, and social workers, oh and a parent, who is the least educated on the topics at hand, and just tries to listen as the others talk about their child. The immediate comparison made me chuckle, and also put myself in the shoes of parents going through that process for the first time. Will's rounds went well. I had no questions, and I got a nice overview of his care thus far and the path he's on. I assume he's relatively simple compared to other NICU babies. He may (stress may) go home tomorrow. We shall see :-)
