I spent (the majority of ) the last 3 days at Camp Letts with 60 8th graders. We go every year and this year was such a smooth trip. The students were great and I got to spend quality time with some of my coworkers. I did sneak out for one evening to go to the swim team banquet.. but more on that later...
We have some things we do every year-- make a t-shirt, go canoeing, do the high and low ropes courses... but each year brings some new excitement and variety. We always do a service project. This year, we built benches in a new area they're setting up, and mulched a path in the woods. Our fearless leaders also came up with a plan to have the "teams" create slingshots as two of their "stations." It was a great activity- and ours came in 3rd (out of 5). The students were just given the supplies and had to try and create something that would launch a tennis ball. I was really impressed with the teamwork and problem-solving skills my group displayed.

Our cabins. For the first time, the girls (who should be split between three rooms) asked if they could have some people on the floor and sleep in two rooms so more of them could be together. Just another example of how this group made this 3 day trip so special.
