Today was Katie's 2nd doctor's appointment. She is now just over 6lbs, 19.5 inches long and continuing to grow at a rate that the pediatrician is pleased with. She had some silver nitrate put on her "belly button" to stop some of the grand finale oozing. She also had another PKU stick done. We can safely assume the one done at the hospital was negative since they haven't come running and screaming to find us.
Kate Buckley is in town until tomorrow since her sister had her baby earlier this week. It's been so nice to have her here. We're really lucky to have the Buckley's as friends-- let alone friends we get along with well enough to be around them as much as we are :-) She returns to Canada tomorrow am, which is sad because I really like having her here. Hopefully between Katie and her two nephews being about 1 mile apart, she'll have plenty of excuses to come back down to visit.
My accomplishment today has been to let her nap in her crib. The use of the word accomplishment has changed drastically-- like a tornado, ripping apart my past standards of things like "earn a master's degree" or "run a marathon" to now the rubble of "leave infant unattended in a safe crib with a video monitor on her at all times." I'm hanging in there. Yesterday, I finished all things on my to-do list: lunch with Adam's aunt (yum and yeah) and vacuum and wash the nasty sofa. Hold onto sanity is an assumed part of all these lists.
Today's goals include finishing thank you notes, working on birth announcements and organizing the vat of greeting cards. We'll see how that goes. I'm running on a 3 hour and a 2 hour block of sleep.
