Screen time

I have a new annoyance- people (usually over the age of 60) presenting uneducated opinions on "screen time." I wasn't allowed video games growing up because they weren't educational. I spent HOURS playing Carmen San Diego and Oregon Trail on the computer- learning by staring at a screen.

We value books and reading. Katie and Will get a lot of screen time, from books to pre-coding games, to TV shows that share about the medical field and about different cultures.

Video games aren't what we're doing.  We have active and educated kids, and yes, they spend lots of time looking at screens. 

They will take all assessments in school on screens (I took the GREs on a computer a decade ago).

They stare at screens to see family members on FaceTime

They are learning differently than past generations- and that's not only okay, it's exciting.
